Keep in mind that this list is far from exhaustive. Brooklyn is filled with great, dog-friendly bars and restaurants. And while we’re sticking to Brooklyn for this list, there are plenty of nearby options in other NYC boroughs worth checking out as well!

In Brooklyn, you are only allowed to bring a dog (who isn’t a service animal) into restaurants and establishments serving food that have accommodating, outdoor seating areas. That said, there are plenty of food spots with great outdoor patios, along with a number of bars and drink-only spaces with indoor and outdoor areas perfectly fit for you and your dog.

The name says it all — this is one of the most well-known, dog-friendly spots in Brooklyn. This bar has indoor- and outdoor-friendly dog areas, with a full-on backyard for your furry friend to hang with other dogs while you catch up with your buddies. This dive bar is such a dog-friendly spot, many patrons without them will head to Lucky Dog to get some quality canine time!

Tuffet

If you’re looking for a casual spot to snack and drink with your pooch, Tuffet is a solid option, featuring artisanal meat and cheese plates, handcrafted cocktails, craft beer, sangria, desserts and more. Your dog is welcome to join you at one of Tuffet’s nine pet-friendly tables on the quaint, private outdoor patio.

FancyFree

FancyFree has club bar and pub fare like burgers, tacos, fish and chips, and wings, though you’ll find a fairly expansive menu featuring other options like chicken and waffles and salads. There are also various specials and a Monday-Friday, 3-7 p.m. happy hour to enjoy with your dog on one of the bistro tables on the front sidewalk.

Do or Dive

This is another spot with both indoor and outdoor dog-friendly areas! Do or Dive is a classic  and cozy Brooklyn dive, offering a down-to-earth vibe complete with a backyard filled with seating, an outdoor bar, and games. It’s so welcoming to dogs that more often than not, you can expect to find one hanging out with their owner when you stop in!

The Levee

This place’s motto is “Beer. Booze. Pool. Dogs.” after all! Sure, that might be primarily because of their stellar chili cheese dogs, but this spot is still great to grab a quick drink or indulgent bite with your pup as well. The Levee also has a solid PB&J and Frito pie (chili served in an open bag of Fritos). You can get in on the action with your dog at one of the four pet-friendly tables along the side of the building.

Strong Rope Brewery

Strong Rope’s gorgeous waterfront taproom, complete with one of the best views of the Statue of Liberty you’ll find, is always a pleasure to enjoy. Why not bring along your dog? A family-run business offering an array of handcrafted beer made with locally sourced ingredients, you’ll also find ciders, beers, and wines to explore. Beertenders can also snag water bowls and treats if needed!

The Three Diamond Door

Strong drinks, plenty of ambiance, happy hour specials, and more — The Three Diamond Door will not disappoint when it comes to enjoying a beverage with your pup. This Bushwick spot and hidden gem has a lovely pet-friendly backyard space to enjoy a beer or cocktail while soaking in the good vibes.

The Gate

With the on-tap list, you never know what you’ll find at The Gate, with an ever-changing and often niche tap list that changes daily. One constant is that this spot is absolutely dog-friendly, with a great patio area where you can bring your pooch and generally see others with their four-legged friends. The Gate also keeps folks coming back, as you’re more than welcome to bring your own food!

Five Boroughs Brewing Co.

If you’re looking to enjoy a great beer in Sunset Park in a taproom allowing dogs both indoors and outdoors, Five Boroughs Brewing Co. is the place to be. This spot has a very cool setting, located in an old steel factory, with a stage for live performances and a gift shop. Five Boroughs don’t serve food, though there are plenty of nearby restaurants to grab a pick-up order or deliver right to you!
